It is with great enthusiasm the curators of Pressing Through Time – 150 Years of Printmaking in Taos, invite you–the artists, the printmakers, the tourists and adventure-seekers–to our eclectic and creative town of Taos, New Mexico!
Here, you will not only find an interesting mix of present-day artists, authors, off-grid tin hat fashionistas, and well-to-do retirees, but also a diverse mix of Pueblo Indians and Hispanics who can trace their lineage back hundreds (if not thousands) of years.
It is this combination of rich heritage, diversity and remarkable beauty that drew the first printmakers to Taos Valley in the 1860’s and continues to entice creative people to our remote valley, which is held in a comforting embrace by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains from the east, while showcasing some of the world’s most stunning sunsets over the expansive western mesa.
